China, the second-biggest fuel consumer after the U.S., will increase gasoline and diesel prices by as much as 18 percent. After that, oil was fall more than $4 a barrel, the biggest drop in 11 weeks, on speculation demand will decline as China increases the fuel prices.

China will raise jet-fuel prices by 1,500 yuan a ton, or 25 percent. On July 1, China will increase electricity prices by an average 0.025 yuan a kilowatt- hour, or 4.7 percent.

June 16 - Crude oil rose to a record $139.89 a barrel in New York as a weaker dollar bolstered the appeal of commodities as a hedge, and a fire cut North Sea output. StatoilHydro ASA’s 150,000 barrel-a-day Oseberg oil and gas field off the Norwegian coast was shut after a fire broke out in a high-voltage room on a platform yesterday. Crude oil for July delivery rose $4.10, or 3 percent, to $138.96 a barrel. Futures reached the previous record of $139.12 a barrel on June 6.
